Ippon = 10 points.

The highest and immediately winning score in judo contest.
Ippon score:
  • A throw that is largely on the back and thrown with considerable force and speed
  • A hold-down for 25 seconds
  • Two wazari’s
  • Submission from opponent, for instance on a choke or joint lock
  • Hansokomake

Waza-ari = 7 points.

Two waza-ari count as ippon and end the contest. Waza-ari score:
  • A throw that is partially lacking in one of three elements necessary for ippon
  • A hold-down for 20-24 seconds
  • Opponent got two penalties

Waza-ari-Awasete Ippon.

Second Waza-ari score.

The number of yuko scores is unlimited. If during a contest one judoka scores 3 yukos; the othera waza-ari, than waza-ari wins. The points are more important than the number of scores. Yuko score:
  • A throw that is partially lacking in two of three elements necessary for ippon
  • A hold-down for 15-19 seconds
  • Opponent got two penalties

Koka = 3 points.
